PhD Student Position at DIPC: Quantum Simulation of Gauge Theories with Rydberg Atoms

We are currently accepting applications for the position of a PhD Student working on theoretical aspects of the Basque Quantum Flagship project “Rydberg Gauge Quantum Simulator (RyGaQuS)”. The goal of RyGaQus is to leverage the exceptional properties of Rydberg atom arrays to simulate gauge theories, and to explore complex quantum systems and the dynamics of gauge fields. The candidate will develop skills in applying advanced theoretical frameworks such as tensor networks and variational algorithms, with applications ranging from exotic states of matter in condensed matter physics to non-perturbative phenomena in high-energy physics.
The PhD project will be carried out at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), starting in autumn 2025. The student will be supervised by Tobias Grass and will collaborate internationally with theorists and experimentalists from the RyGaQus consortium at DIPC, EHU, BCAM, CERN, and Innsbruck.
