Our group contributed to the outreach activity “From Plastics to Bioplastics: A Path Towards Sustainability”, as part of the official program of the Madrid Science and Innovation Week.

Group members Juan M. Bolívar, Jesús Esteban Serrano, Tomás Pedregal Garrido and the activity organizer Ernesto González Romo presented to the public the latest concepts and advances related to bioplastics and sustainable materials. The session included demonstrations, explanations, and open discussions covering:

• The environmental challenges posed by conventional plastics

• Biotechnological pathways for producing bioplastics

• Opportunities and limitations in the transition towards sustainable materials

• Biotechnological tools to tackle nanoplastic degradation

This participation reflects our group’s ongoing commitment to scientific outreach and to promoting biotechnology-driven solutions for environmental sustainability.
