It was a pleasure to host Dr. Jelena Spasic from TU Graz at our faculty during the past two weeks, within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

During her visit, Dr. Spasic delivered a seminar presenting her recent research on the implementation of membrane-bound enzymes in biotransformations. The talk provided a very clear and inspiring overview of the potential of membrane enzymes in state-of-the-art chemical applications, and offered an excellent perspective on current challenges and opportunities in this rapidly developing field.

The seminar was also particularly valuable for our students, as it clearly illustrated the strong and necessary connection between biology, chemistry and engineering in modern biocatalysis and process development.
