José M. Toledo Gabriel, Associate Professor

Dr. Jose M. Toledo, Associate Professor at the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department of the Complutense University of Madrid. He is professor and lecturer of the Department since 2008. He got his diploma in Chemistry (Industrial Chemistry) in 1997. From 1997 to 2003 he was working on his Ph.D. thesis on the use of monoliths for catalytic hot cleaning of the gas originated in biomass bubbling fluidized bed gasifiers and combustors, obtaining the Extraordinary Doctorate Award.

Afterwards, his research has been focused on the valorization of plastic waste, lignite and energy crops by air gasification in fluidized bed, mainly studying catalytic tar elimination from the raw gasification gas. Nowadays, he is involved in the study of bioprocesses focused on the sustanaible processing of agrofood residues to elicitors and chemicals: acid hydrolysis of pectine and hemicellulose to produce some oligosaccharides, enzymatic hydrolysis to produce oligomers from cellulose.
