Daniela Moreno Alarcón

Licenciada en Planificación y Gestión del Turismo por la Universidad Internacional SEK, Chile (2007); Máster en Planificación y Dirección del Turismo por la Universidad de Alicante (2009); Diploma de Relaciones de Género y Desarrollo por el Instituto Universitario de Desarrollo y Cooperación de la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociología de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2011); Doctora en Feminismo como Teoría Crítica por la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociología de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2017).  Sus principales temas de investigación se focalizan en el trabajo teórico y práctico del desarrollo del turismo desde una perspectiva de género, especialmente en el ámbito de la planificación y la política turística. Dada las posibilidades analíticas que aporta el turismo, la investigadora presenta un conocimiento importante de las dimensiones de género en relación a temáticas tales como el desarrollo sostenible, el desarrollo comunitario, el trabajo decente y las ciencias políticas sensibles al género.

Cuenta con una amplia experiencia como consultora en el más alto nivel. Ha colaborado con ONU Mujeres en el desarrollo de política turística en Cabo Verde y Albania; con la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT) como experta regional de Latinoamérica y el Caribe en la segunda edición del Informe Mundial de las Mujeres en el Turismo, así como dio apoyo técnico en la primera edición del mismo; con la Fundación Internacional y para Iberoamérica de Administración y Política Públicas (FIIAPP) en la elaboración de una guía de buenas prácticas en turismo con enfoque de género y del material formativo sobre planificación de proyectos con perspectiva de género.

Desde 2013 es codirectora de la organización inglesa Equality in Tourism que tiene como objetivo promover la igualdad de género en los diversos niveles y fases del desarrollo sostenible del turismo. Desde 2017 es investigadora de la organización ALBA SUD en el marco del trabajo decente y desarrollo comunitario. Desde 2018 es también Investigadora Asociada de la Unidad de Género del Centro Superior de Estudios de Gestión de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (CSEG-UCM) donde realiza actividad docente e investigadora.

Ha investigado en diversos países tales como Nicaragua, Cabo Verde, Gambia, Senegal, Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica, España y Reino Unido. Como docente ha participado en diversas licenciaturas y postgrados (Universidad de Córdoba, Universidad UNAN Managua, Universidad de Alcalá, Escuela de Turismo Ostelea), así como en varios ciclos formativos en el marco de proyectos de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo. También ha coordinado e implementado un número importante talleres en el marco de la Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo, así como de conferencias en diversos países (entre otros Nicaragua, España, Brasil, Inglaterra, Costa Rica, Cabo Verde, Gambia, Portugal).

Bachelor’s degree (First Class) in Tourism Planning and Management by the International Sek University, Chile (2007); Master’s degree in Tourism Planning and Management by the University of Alicante (2009); Diploma in Gender and Development Relations by the University Institute for Cooperation and Development, Faculty of Social Science and Sociology, Complutense University of Madrid (2011); Doctor in Feminism as a Critical Theory by the Complutense University of Madrid, Faculty of Political Science and Sociology (2017). Her main subjects of research are focused on the theoretical and practical work on tourism development from a gender perspective, especially in the planning and tourism politics fields. Giving the multiple analytics possibilities that tourism brings about, the researcher has an important knowledge of the gender dimensions in the frame of the following thematics: sustainable development, community–based development, decent work and gender sensitive political sciences.

She has honed an ample international experience at the highest working level. The researcher has worked with: UN Women in Albania and Cape Verde for developing tourism policies; the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as a Regional Expert for Latin America and the Caribbean in the second edition of the Global Report of Women in Tourism, as well as she supported the first edition of the mentioned Report; the Fundación Internacional y para Iberoamérica de Administración y Política Públicas (FIIAPP) in the elaboration of a Good Practices Guide on Gender and Tourism, and the development of training material for gender sensitive planning projects.

Since 2013 she is director of the English organization Equality in Tourism, which aims to promote gender equality in all phases and levels of sustainable development of tourism. Since 2017 she has been working as a researcher for the organization ALBA SUD under the frame of community development and decent work. Since 2018 she works as a researcher and professor in the Gender Unit of the Center for Higher Management Studies of the Complutense University of Madrid (CSEG-UCM).

The researcher has a wide working experience in many countries such as Nicaragua, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Senegal, Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Spain and United Kingdom. As a teacher, she has participated in a wide range of bachelors, masters and postgraduates (University of Córdoba, University UNAN – Managua, University of Alcalá, Ostelea International Tourism School). She has also coordinated and implemented workshops and training for trainers in the frame of International Cooperation for Development, as well as she has given many conferences around the world (Nicaragua, Spain, Brazil, United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Portugal).
