María Concepción Latorre
María Concepción Latorre es Catedrática de Universidad. Fue seleccionada como Experto Nacional Destacado en la Comisión Europea (Chief Economist Unit, DG Trade, Bruselas) en el curso 2022-2023, donde formaba parte del Grupo de Expertos en Comercio Internacional desde 2016. Ha sido Vicedecana de Investigación, Posgrado y Relaciones Internacionales de la Facultad de Estudios Estadísticos de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid de 2018 a 2022. Es, en la actualidad, Research Fellow del Real Colegio Complutense en la Universidad de Harvard, donde adicionalmente, es co-chair del Study Group in Data Science y del Study Group in Global Governance. También co-lidera el Una Europa Global Governance Research Group con el Prof. Jan Wouters (KU Leuven). Ha sido consultor del Banco Mundial, de la US Interntional Trade Commission y del Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo, habiendo analizado para este Ministerio el impacto del Brexit en España y el del Tratado Unión Europea-Mercosur. Ha sido miembro del Comité Ejecutivo del área de Data Science and Artificial Intelligence de la Alianza UNA Europa. Ha realizado estancias de investigación en el Center for International Development de la Harvard Kennedy School, en el Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability de la Universidad de Harvard, en el CEPII, en la US International Trade Commission y en la University of Nottingham. Su trabajo realizado en coautoría sobre el Brexit ha recibido el Best Paper Award 2020 in International Economics del journal Economic Modelling y otro, también en coautoría sobre el Brexit ha sido galardonado con el Emerald Literati Award en 2019 en la categoría “Highly Commended Paper Award”. María C. Latorre is a Full Professor (with tenure). She was selected as a Seconded National Expert at the European Commission (Chief Economist Unit, DG Trade, Brussels) for the 2022–2023 academic year, having been a member of its Expert Group on International Trade since 2016. She served as Vice Dean for Research, Postgraduate Studies and International Relations at the Faculty of Statistical Studies of the Complutense University of Madrid from 2018 to 2022. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University, where she also co-chairs the Study Group in Data Science and the Study Group in Global Governance. She co-leads the Una Europa Global Governance Research Group with Professor Jan Wouters (KU Leuven). She has served as a consultant to the World Bank, the US International Trade Commission, and the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, for which she analysed the impact on Spain of both Brexit and the EU–Mercosur Agreement. She has been a member of the Executive Committee for the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence area of the UNA Europa Alliance. She has carried out research stays at the Center for International Development at the Harvard Kennedy School, the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard University, CEPII, the US International Trade Commission, and the University of Nottingham. A co-authored paper on Brexit received the 2020 Best Paper Award in International Economics from the journal Economic Modelling, and another co-authored work on Brexit was awarded the Emerald Literati Award in 2019 in the “Highly Commended Paper Award” category.
