Redesigning and implementation of sustainable construction materials-Sundsvall Living Lab

This video shows a rebuild of a room from lab to conference room as a part of a living lab study within CirCoCreation. The rebuild follows the intentions of the EU waste ladder which is the cornerstone of EU waste policies and legislation and is laid down in the EU waste framework directive (Directive 2008/98/EC). The aim is to minimize adverse impacts of the generation and management of waste; and to improve resource efficiency. When the Department of Health Sciences at Mid Sweden University decided to rebuild a lab to a conference room in a building owned by Sundsvalls City this became an opportunity to utilize the latest technology developed within CirCoCreation.
We have upgraded the room from conventional district heated radiators to heated under-floors enabling the use of lower value heat (lower temperature from district heating).
Moreover, the construction materials are a new type of recyclable heated under-floors from LK-Flooré AB where we substitute fossil based expanded polystyrene for a 3D-paper-composite made by Reboard AB. In this way, 100% of the material (82% paper and 18% aluminium) can be recovered when dismantling the heated under-floor at the end of its life.
