Olga Kisseleva explores the aesthetics of recycled matter in "Re-Creation: Luilekkerland"

5 NOV 2025 - 13:50 CET

Artist and researcher Olga Kisseleva presents Re-Creation: Luilekkerland at BAC ART LAB, KU Leuven, a project developed within the European CirCoCreation consortium. The exhibition examines how waste materials, ranging from construction scraps to food residues, can be transformed into meaningful artistic experiences through collaboration between artists, scientists, and local communities.

A standout work is “The River of Milk” created from biodegradable, milk-based materials that dissolve naturally in water. The piece reimagines ancient myths of abundance while highlighting today’s environmental challenges. Another related installation shows milk-derived bioplastics breaking down in the sea as marine life interacts with them, underscoring the full lifecycle of recycled matter.

By merging scientific research with poetic imagery, Kisseleva invites visitors to reconsider the boundary between discarded materials and creative potential. The exhibition runs 15 October to 15 November 2025 at KU Leuven.

Two online publications have mentioned the exhibition in articles:
