As part of the DUT CirCoCreation project, an in-depth interview was conducted by Carmen Abril to better understand the challenges and needs of the City of Leuven. Lieve Van Espen, policy advisor in the department of sustainability, explained: “We still want to do pilots and experimentation… but we also made a conscious decision to go for scale… because if we keep piloting and experimenting, that’s not how we make impact.”

The interview highlighted Leuven’s multi-level, collaborative ecosystem, which aims to experiment and scale sustainability practices across public policy and community initiatives. The city is an ideal setting for the CirCoCreation Living Lab, where project members will contribute by supporting both its development measurement of its outcomes.
