Nano and Supramolecular Chemistry

PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR: Andrés Guerrero Martínez and Luis González MacDowell

GENERAL RESEARCH OBJECTIVE OF THE GROUP

The development of Colloid and Supramolecular Chemistry has been tremendous during the past decades, driven in part by the improvements in colloidal synthesis of nanocrystals and manipulation of nanoparticle surface functionalities with supramolecules. This has granted access not only to exquisite control over the morphology of nanostructures but also to novel multiparticle ensembles with a variety of organizational motifs. We are interested in the development of colloids and nanoparticles and the study of their corresponding physico-chemical properties and correlations with supramolecular concepts that have been around for a long time in Chemistry.

LINES OF THE RESEARCH GROUP AND RESPONSIBLE RESEARCHER

  • Study and modelling of supramolecular systems with nanotechnology applications
  • Development and characterization of colloid nanoparticles in sensing and biomedical applications
  • Theory and simulation of crystal growth, complex interfaces and micellar aggregates
