PhD offer: RL21. Unravelling the path towards human oesophageal tumorigenesis - IDIBAPS, the research centre associated to Hospital Clinic in Barcelona - Deadline: 13 July
2 jun 2026 - 10:38 CET
Dear Collegues,IDIBAPS, the research centre associated to Hospital Clinic in Barcelona is launching DYNAMIS – the EU co-funded IDIBAPS Doctoral programme Yielding Novel Advancements in Medicine and Innovative Solutions. Our group is offering a project: RL21. Unravelling the path towards human oesophageal tumorigenesis where we aim to characterize the earliest stages of oesophageal transformation through focusing on very common but poorly characterized benign human oesophageal lesions as a possible precursor of oesophageal cancer or evolutionary dead-end of tumorigenesis. Learning from the early processes occurring during oesophageal transformation could lead to the development of innovative therapies aimed to intercept tumorigenesis at early stages increasing the survival rate of oesophageal cancer (currently below 25% at 5-years).Please help us spread the word globally to talented international researchers seeking a PhD that tackles real-world medical challenges. We welcome candidates from diverse scientific backgrounds (e.g., Biology, Physics, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medicine, Chemistry). Candidates will join the vibrant IDIBAPS research community at Clínic Campus in Barcelona, including over 2,000 professionals and a hundred multidisciplinary groups that carry out high-impact translational research aimed at addressing biological and clinical questions relevant to human health. In DYNAMIS, we aim to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications by offering high-quality co-supervision from both translational and clinical scientists. Through our doctoral schools, students receive comprehensive training in biomedical research and technologies, innovation and knowledge transfer, professional development, and cross-cutting topics such as open science and ethics. Last but not least, we offer secondment opportunities with international institutions and across various sectors (e.g., industry) to broaden PhD students’ networks and perspectives. These combined elements aim to empower a new generation of PhD students with the skills and experience needed to tackle global medical challenges. If you know someone who may be interested, please encourage them to apply for this opportunity by 13 July 2026. You can redirect them to our website and our online info session on June 8th, 1:00 PM (CEST).Many thanksAlbert Herms, PhDFRCB-IDIBAPS
