Grupo BIOMIL

El grupo BIOMIL, liderado por el Profesor Jesús Pérez Gil, se ha especializado en el estudio de los mecanismos moleculares de la función tensioactiva del SURFACTANTE PULMONAR; a nivel estructural y funcional, y en particular en el protagonismo que a este respecto tienen las proteínas hidrofóbicas SP-B y SP-C.

El desarrollo de modelos y técnicas de estudio del surfactante en sistemas de bicapas y monocapas lipídicas ha permitido ampliar los intereses de nuestra investigación a la caracterización de interacciones lípido-proteína y proteína-proteína en otros sistemas de membrana, con especial atención a la importancia de la distribución y organización lateral de lípidos y proteínas en la función de las membranas biológicas.
