Miguel María López Coira

Miguel López Coira is a Tenured Professor of Social Anthropology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Began his teaching career in 1983, obtaining the title of Doctor in 1988. Since then, has participated as a research member in various anthropology research projects financed by DGYCIT and directed by professors José Luis García and Honorio Velasco, on rituals in Spain and on mining.

 

Has completed fieldwork in rural areas of Galicia, Asturias and Madrid, as well as in penal institutions. His research areas include the oral poetry of improvisation, symbolism and ritual, and non-Western musical traditions.

 

Of note among his works are: As mañanitas de Murias.
