My research focuses on the evolutionary responses of migratory birds in relation to climate change. My aim is to understand why some species are adapting to novel conditions while others are not, exploring the mechanisms underlying such differences. Key issues under study are the relationships between adaptive potential, phenotypic variation and control of life-cycle events (whether environmental or endogenous). I’m exploring such processes using large-scale approaches, both in time and space.

In turn, understanding the adaptability of different species of migratory birds faced with rapid environmental change will contribute to better evaluate their long-term conservation prospects.
