From a photography's aesthetics towards an image
aesthetics
Françoise Soulages
ABSTRACT:
The author makes a proposal towards the development of an image's aesthetics
or a general aesthetics, which according to his criteria should be supported
by particular aesthetics, such as photography. He expounds a method of
how to give an aesthetic point of view to an art piece, which would be
the combination of perceptible (existential relation with the object)
and theoretical (conceptual thoughts) points of view. When he applies
his ideas to photographic aesthetics, he realises that it should be based
on technical theory and its practice. This brings him to the point of
studying several relations: between the real and the non-photographic;
the photo and the photographicness and finally, the relation between real/photo
and the "at the same time". It is important to outstand that
what distinguishes this aesthetic attitude is its inductive condition.
