Organizational contingencies theories emphasized the influence that some contingent variables has in leadership. Nowadays globalisation has a great influence in the organizations structures. Besides the small companies created and directed by his own entrepreneurial leaders (Chief Executive Officers, CEOs), there are multinational companies that are directed in each particularly country by a non entrepreneurial leader (Chief Operating Executives, COEs). The functions, and specially the responsibilities of each one differ greatly, and presumably also the relationship with subordinates. A macro cross-cultural research is coming up at this time, constitutes the third phase of GLOBE Project that is running up across the whole world. This paper presents a specific research of GLOBE Spanish Team concerning the difference of Spanish CEO's (twenty one) and COEs (twenty) related with perceptions that subordinates and themselves have about the attributes and behaviors. A multiple methodology (qualitative and quantitative) was used. Results are analysed through contingence theory.
