MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS OF CONTROL AND QUANTUM INFORMATION

This school is part of a full semester activity on “The mathematical foundations of quantum control and quantum information theory”, i-math programme q-C&I, devoted to offer to a wide range of students and young researchers both in mathematics and physics an intensive approach to the fundamental ideas on quantum control and quantum information. theory.

11-15 February 2008

The "Advanced Winter School on the Mathematical foundations of control and quantum information theory" is the first activity on the semester on the i-Math programme q-C&I, Quantum control and Quantum Information Theory.

The goals of the School is to offer to a wide range of Ph. D. students and young researchers both i mathematics, physics or engineering, an intensive approach to the fundamental ideas on quantum control and quantum information theory by means of a variety of courses covering these topics.

Quantum information theory in rapidly growing into an central paradigm to the immediate future development of quantum technologies. Its unique combination of deep physical ideas, sophisticated mathematical techniques and the state-of-the-art laboratory technology makes it an center of interest for both physicist, mathematicians and engineers. This school attempts to fill the gap that sometimes is found between physicist, mathematicians and engineers by presenting in a rigorous and at the same time accesible way, the basic material on physics and mathematics needed for a young researcher to cope with the developments on the field.

The members of the committe responsible for the programme are:

  • Eduardo Casas (UCAN)
  • Alberto Galindo (UCM)
  • Alberto Ibort (UCIIIM)
  • Manuel de León (CISC)
  • Giuseppe Marmo (UNapoli)

CIEM (International Center of Mathematical meetings) is an initiative promoted by the University of Cantabria and the city-hall of Castro Urdiales jointly, whose main objective is to promote mathematical investigation on quality, both on its basics, applieds and computacional ways, taking special care to its multi and pluridisciplinar investigation, by means of conferences and researchers meetings support. The best arrival airport is the one at Bilbao.
