Richard Waghorn, Head of Business Management, BBC Distribution

Richard currently works for BBC Distribution where he leads the department's project management and business processes with responsibility for budgets, financial planning and resource management. Richard was responsible for managing the distribution of the BBC's radio services on digital platforms, such as DAB, satellite, digital cable and Freeview, and he was the project manager for the launch of Freeview helping to set-up and launch the new digital television service within a matter of months.

Richard previously worked for the BBC World Service as a technical studio manager for the service's African and Middle East programmes and in the commercial radio sector working for the Essex Radio Group where he worked on station acquisitions and new licence applications. More recently, Richard moved back to the BBC working as an analyst in the strategy department and then as project manager for BBC New Media where he set up a listings website and the BBC's web on TV service.
