The Network for UltraViolet Astrophysics (NUVA) is a pan-european network set-up to identify the needs of the astronomical community in the UV domain and eventually propose actions to struture it around new projects. It was first established within the OPTical Infrared COordination Network for astronomy FP6 program, but now is continuing in a broader range. Access here to the final recommendations of the NUVA to the OPTICON board in December 2008.
The NUVA is continuing its task in structuring and coordinating the UV community around well defined projects.
In this site, the NUVA provides information of its activities: reports, general description of ongoing and future space projects, meetings and job offerts in UV astronomy
» Second NUVA conference: UV Universe 2010
The current status of UV-based astrophysical research will be reviewed as well as the status of on-going projects such as the Galactic Evolution Explorer (GALEX) or the Space Telescope (HST) as well as novel projects such as Fresnel Interferometers or the status of small missions such as SPEAR/FIMS or TAUVEX. Special attention during the conference will be paid at the World Space Observatory-Ultraviolet ( WSO-UV) - a 170 cm UV space telescope that is planned to be launched in 2013.
The conference is organized by the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Main Astronomical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with NUVA Community.
» Ultraviolet Astronomy: views from the community. A report from the NUVA* on-line questionnaire
Because of the diversity of interests it was felt necessary, as part of this
exercise, to propose and on-line questionnaire to understand the
priorities of the community. The questionnaire was made available
throught this site and the results are reported here (also
published in the Bulletin of the European Astronomical Society).
» Conference on "Milliarcsecond imaging in the UV-Optical Domains. Preparing the way to spaceborne
Fresnel Imagers".
September 23-25, Nice (France).
» Summary thoughts from the "Beyond JWST: The Next Steps in UV-Optical-NIR Space Astronomy Workshop"
Held in Baltimore in March 26-27, 2009.
» Fundamental Question in Astrophysics: Guidelines for Future UV Observatories
