The Professional School of Medical Hydrology and Hydrotherapy of the School of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid is the only Spanish University recognised by the Ministry of Education and Health to obtain the title of doctor specialised in “Medical Hydrology”.
This year the school reaches its thirtieth anniversary. This paper describes the different aspects that have been developed within the Institution, the curriculum, the teachers, the students’ profile, investigation orientations and cooperation agreements reached throughout these years. The School of Medical Hydrology, born in 1912 and in close relation, offers the only doctorate program on this specialization given in a spanish University and the different subjects included in several careers like in Medicine (Medical Hydrology and Climatology), in Occupational Therapy Diploma (Techniques associated to Occupational Therapy), in Human Nutrition and Dietetics Diploma (Bottled Waters in Human Nutrition) and in Physiotherapy Diploma (Balneotherapy and Talasoclimatotherapy), as well as, in the bachelor studies for Food Science and Technology (Mineral waters).
