MS_SSIM Index: a Java plugin in ImageJ








The main line of research of our team is Image Quality Assesment in Radiology.  We are developing several tools and methods to obtain useful and objective index  and procedures we can use to improve the  performance of the radiology systems.
One of the areas of our interest at the moment is the evaluation of MS_SSIM index metrics as a set of useful tools to analyze several aspects of this kind of images. These metrics are based on the analysis of the structural similarity of two images.
As an intermediate result, we have developed  in Java a plugin version for  ImageJ of MS_SSIM index, created by Zhou Wang and MS_SSIM* index, created by David M. Rouse and Sheila S. Hemami. It is our aim to share  our  programs as Open Source Software with the scientific community.
In this web you can download this software tool (developed as a ImageJ plugin) and the user manual. Also you can download some test images with our results. We have tested our plugin with Mr. Wang’s and Mr. Rose’s  MatLab code, with almost identical results for each algorithm.
