UCM - Department of Applied Economics VI (Public finance and Fiscal system)

The Ministry of the Treasury is the department of the General State Administration responsible for proposing and executing the general directives and measures of the economic policy of the government and, especially, the policy relating to inland revenue, budgets and expenditure and public companies.

The mission of the institution, in general terms, focuses on two major areas. On one hand, Research, economic and legal study and consultation in matters relating to public income and expenditure and their impact on the economic and social system, and the analysis and exploitation of tax statistics. On the other hand, Training, collaborating in the processes of selection and training of civil servants of the Ministry of the Economy, and cooperating with other institutions in Spain and abroad in training and technical assistance.

The International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF) is the world organization of Public Finance economists. Founded in Paris in 1937, it has since become the pre-eminent academic institution for study and research on economic public policy topics, and the platform of choice for the establishment of contacts and exchange of opinions on policy matters among scholars of all nationalities.

A national conference which focuses in topics related to the public economics. This year, issues related to the role of the public sector during the current crisis will constitute the main body of the presentations.

Hacienda Pública Española/Revista de Economía Pública is a spanish journal willing to receive originals written in Spanish or English dealing with some of the many areas currently included under the heading “Public Economics”. Scientific rigour and search for academic excellence will be the only criteria when selecting papers as the board is aware that the appreciation of the readers will be earned in this way.

The REVISTA DE ECONOMÍA APLICADA is a four-monthly publication dedicated to academic papers on applied economics. Founded in 1992 by a group of university teachers from various Spanish universities, it has its head office at the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Zaragoza. The papers submitted for publication are subjected to an anonymous evaluation process.
