Rafael
Myro Sánchez is Professor of Applied Economics at the Complutense University of
Madrid, an institution where he has been developing his research and teaching
activities for the last 26 years. At the present, he is the director of
the Department of Applied Economics II.
His
works refer to the Spanish Economy, and it has been focused mainly on the
subjects of growth, industrial development, integration in the EU and the role
of public firms. They can be found in several collective books and in the most
important economics reviews in Spain: "Investigaciones Económicas",
"Información Comercial Española", "Moneda y Crédito",
"Economía Industrial", "Revista de Economía Aplicada".
As
an expert on industry, he has been an adviser to the Ministry of Industry, and
to several Spanish Autonomous Governments, particularly thouse of
Asturias, Andalucía, Madrid and Castilla-León.
Among
his most recent works, the most outstanding are a book on the European Economy
(“Economía Europea: crecimiento, integración y transformaciones
sectoriales” Cívitas, 2000), another on the Spanish Economy (Lecciones de
Economía Española, Cívitas, 1999, Forth Edition), used as advanced text-book
in Spanish Universities, and a
contribution to the collective book "España, Economía" (Espasa-Calpe,
edited by J.L. García Delgado) under the title of
“Spain in the European Union: phases and effects of the integration).
Professor
Myro belongs to the Scientific Committee of some Economic Reviews and directs a
Doctorate Programme on Economic and
Monetary Integration in Europe, at
Instituto Universitario Ortega y Gasset, anexed to the Complutense University.
