An oral and written Placement Test will be held the first day of the course to check the knowledge of Spanish the Students have.</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoE --> </div><!-- Cierra cursoG --> <div class="cursoE"><p>Classes</p> <div class="cursoG"><p>Classes will be held every afternoon (15:00 - 18:00). Cycle of Spanish Language</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoH --> <div class="cursoF"><ul><li><strong>Grammar:</strong> theory and practice (4'30 hrs/week).</li> <li><strong>Practical Spanish:</strong> (4'30 hrs/week) Extra classes to support the other three subjects.</li> <li><strong>Writing Comprehension and Production:</strong> Close reading of texts, essay writing... (3 hrs/week).</li> <li><strong>Listening Comprehension and Oral Production:</strong> Communicative situations, dramatizations, dissertations... Every evening, from Monday to Friday different series of lectures on cultural Hispanic subjects will be given from 18:00 to 21:00 hrs.</p> <p>Attendance to these lectures is optional. These lectures are designed specially for advanced Students. Every series of lectures consists of 10 hours and every day two or three lectures are offered so that the Students may attend the ones they are interested in.</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoG --> <div class="cursoF"><ul><li><strong>Spanish Middle Ages Literature.</strong></li> <li><strong>Hispanic-Roman, Arab and Jewish philosophy.</strong></li> <li><strong>Spain en the transition years. From the dictatorship to the democracy (1975-1982).</strong></li> <li><strong>Spanish art until the XVII century.</strong></li> <li><strong>Identity and novels in Hispanic-American regionalism.</strong></li> <li><strong>Great film directors of the Spanish cinema.</strong></li> <li><strong>The Habsburgs. The XVII and XVIII centuries in Spanish history.</strong></li> <li><strong>Spanish Theatre Acting(I)</strong></li> <li><strong>Introduction to flamenco dancing. Students of Iniciation A1, Basic A2 and Intermediate B1 will be able to take a thirty-hours <em>Course in History and Culture of Spain</em>. It will consist of three separate sessions from 18:00 to 19:30 hours. The attendance is voluntary.</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoG --> <div class="cursoF"><p>This Course of <em>Spanish History and Culture</em> uses audiovisual materials (Slides, CD s, DVD s, online sessions& ) and it is planned to make easy the learning of the different aspects of Spanish culture and society. The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge of vocabulary; this will provide the students with a better competence, articulation, listening comprehension and production of the Spanish language.</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoF --> <div class="cursoG"><p>An exam or the presentation of an essay plus a minimal, obligatory attendance to three sessions is required to obtain the corresponding credits.</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoG --> </div><!-- Cierra cursoE --> <div class="cursoE"><p>Cultural Activities</p> <div class="cursoG"><p>During the course, students will have the chance to engage in a variety of cultural activities: Lectures, films, theatre, plays, art-exhibitions, guided-excursions by teachers or specialists to towns or places of monumental, historical or artistic interest, guided-tours of Madrid and its surroundings... etc.</p> <p>(Fees for these activities are not included in the registration payment).</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoG --> </div><!-- Cierra cursoE --> <div class="cursoE"><p>Assessment</p> <div class="cursoG"><p>1- All the students who pass all the subjects will be able to obtained the Diploma Certificate of Spanish Language and will receive the corresponding number of credits (1 credit = 10 hours).</p> <p>2- For the students who request it, the ECTS system can be used for grading.</p> <p>The ECTS credits are not affectively recognized by any official academic program. Nevertheless, the <em>Cursos de Español para Extranjeros</em> grades establish an equivalence of 25 hours of actual work for every ECTS credit.</p> </div><!-- Cierra cursoG --> </div><!-- Cierra cursoE --> <div class="cursoE"><p>Student id card</p> <div class="cursoG"><p>A student id card will be given to students during the in person registration on arrival.
