forming part of the residential village that King Alfonso XII built

| |
|

The excursion starts from the square Alfonso II, where the
gothic Cathedral of Salvador is located. Its building started in
the XIV century, on the same site where was located the preroman
basilica of the same name. |

|
| |
Inside
of the cathedral, there is a small reliquary capel, named Cámara
Santa, inscribed as World Heritage by UNESCO. It was built in

reliquaries brought from the Holy Land, as well as jewels and

railway station, and where lies the political and financial
institutions (Junta General del Principado, old palace of the
Diputación) and the leisure spaces (Paseo de los Álamos and
Campoamor theater), accompanying people from Oviedo since century
XIX, and to all the visitants of this city, expecting to be the "European
Capital of Culture". |
