Economic and Productive Areas

This area of research focuses on the energy market from the perspective of international political economy. The geopolitics of petroleum and gas in international relations can be structured into three levels of analysis: agents, regions and trade mechanisms. There exists no clearly defined structure within the energy market. The system is characterized by a series of asymmetrical relationships, unstable and difficult to govern, whose consequences are difficult to predict, though they do not necessarily yield traumatic results. Within this framework cooperation and negotiation are necessary to overcome tensions and potential conflicts that emerge from such an unstable structure.
