Industrial Organization: Firm-level Analysis

Description

Our main interests lay in the determinants and effects of firms’ strategies. With this objective, our group has participated in the generation of longitudinal micro-level databases, which are being used extensively by national and international researchers. Two examples are the Survey on Business Strategies (Encuesta sobre Estrategias Empresariales, ESEE) and the Panel of Technological Innovation (Panel de Innovación Tecnológica, PITEC). Currently, the work of the group is mainly structured around three main topics: the first relates to the economics of innovation and the evaluation of public support to business R&D. The second focuses on the study of firms’ productivity and their determinants, and the third puts the emphasis on the relationship between the decisions of internalization of companies and the determinants of competitiveness.

The subjects researched in our ongoing projects include:

  • Economics of innovation and evaluation of technological policy
  • Measurement and determinants of productivity at the firm-level
  • Firms´ strategies and competitiveness
