General Objectives

EU-wide study on MPE :

The work will involve elaboration and distribution of a questionnaire to establish the status and the legal and practical arrangements in the Member States regarding the training, education and recognition of MPE. The questionnaire shall be appropriately distributed to reach the relevant organizations/institutions in all EU Member States and the candidate countries. The answers to the questionnaire will serve to identify major issues, important discrepancies between the different countries and the good practices and will be used to inform the development of the European guidance.

European Workshop :

The contractor will organize a European Workshop to discuss the status, training, recognition and cross-border mobility of MPE. The contractor shall ensure the appropriate timing and participation at the workshop in order to guarantee that the final draft of the EU Guidelines is appropriately discussed and widely accepted by the relevant organizations and professional groups into the Member States. In general, this means that the workshop shall be held not earlier than the middle of the project and not later than six months before its end.

EU Guidance on MPE:

The most essential final result of the work is the development of European Guidance on MPE containing appropriate recommendations on harmonizing education, training and recognition requirements for MPE in European Union within the existing EU legislative network. The proposal shall also contain recommendations on the MPE staffing levels necessary to ensure adequate radiation protection of patients depending on the size and type of radiological practice.
