Breve descriptor:

This course aims to analyze and explore in depth the role played by the various visual representations unique to the realm of industrial modernity (film, photography, TV) in the American context. The course is oriented to identify the elements that constitute the American identity of these cultures, while trying to understand how these images contribute to fix and, if necessary, alter the American identity. Issues such as the construction of the image and its narrative meaning, its influence on the historical context (and vice versa), as well as the processes that lead to establish the cultural meaning of the image in the North American context will be the main objectives of the course.
