La Dra. Asun L
ópez-Varela es profesora en el Departamento de Filología Inglesa II desde 1994. Su investigación se orienta hacia la socio-semiótica, los estudios literarios y culturales comparados y la intermedialidad. Es miembro del grupo de investigación del Campus de Excelencia de la UCM Semiótica, Comunicación y Cultura (Facultad de Ciencias de la Información) A su vez, López-Varela es coordinadora del programa de investigación SIIM Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation que desarrolla un marco semiótico para el estudio comparado de los lenguajes artísticos en formatos multimodales. Es también editora y coordinadora de la versión en castellano de la Victorian Web, proyecto en el que participan más de 80 estudiantes de postgrado de la Facultad de Filología UCM y de otras universidades españolas y extranjeras. La Dra. López-Varela forma parte del Executive Committee European Network Comparative Literary Studies desde 2009 y, en ocasiones, evaluadora externa de the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency EACEA. Ha sido profesora visitante en el departamento de literatura comparada de la Universidad de Brown (2010) y en la Universidad de Harvard (2013), donde colabora con el Institute for World Literature

Dr. Asun López-Varela is (first Assistant now Associate) Prof. at Departamento de Filología Inglesa II since 1994. Her research focuses towards socio-semiotics, comparative literature and cultural studies and intermedial studies. She is a member of the Complutense research group Semiótica, Comunicación y Cultura (Media Studies). She coordinates the research program SIIM Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation that develops a comparative semiotic frame for the study of artistic languages in multimodal formats. She is also editor and coordinator of the Spanish translation of the Victorian Web, in which more than 80 postgraduate students from Complutense and various other universities participate. Prof. López-Varela is a member of the Executive Committee European Network Comparative Literary Studies since 2009 and occasional external evaluator of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency EACEA. She has been visiting scholar at the Department of Comparative Literature at Brown University (2010) and at Harvard University (2013), where she collaborates with the Institute for World Literature
